The Mindanao e-Learning Space (MiSpace) will pilot e-Learning Training Packages at the Division of City Schools of Davao City and Digos City this August as part of its sustainable activities.

The course will be conducted in four days where participants will be introduced to the principles of e-Learning as used by MiSpace. They will also be trained to in-depth use of the courses. They are also envisioned to understand how e-Learning format is delivered and discuss the support needed for learners.

The target audience for this activity are officers such as school managers or principals, teachers and other DepEd division personnel interested in the training program.

The objectives of the program are:

  • understand the advantages and disadvantages of e-learning as a medium of training
  • have knowledge of the different models of e-learning used including blended delivery
  • be able to create an environment conducive to effective use of e-learning by individuals or groups
  • evaluate e-learning products of MiSpace and plan their use within their respective Divisions, and
  • provide feedback to MiSpace on courses developed vis-à-vis training needs.

The training package is comprised of modules or courses in School Physical Resource Management (SPRM), Higher Order Thinking Skills (HOTS), Multiple Intelligences, Change Management, Social Marketing and Constructivism. All the courses are available in CD-ROM and online formats. These courses are MiSpace’s response to DepEd’s need for continuing education to its personnel, in an effective and economical way.

The participants are expected to develop a plan to use deliver the courses to the teachers and personnel, using the most convenient mode for the division. This plan will be refined and participants spearhead the implementation of the courses and document its success and issues encountered.

SDS Helen Paguican of Davao City and SDS Alfonso Gomez of Digos City are very supportive to this project. These two divisions were suggested by the BEAM Project Australian Director Dr. Ian D’arcy Walsh for their capability and strong support in IT.
