Welcome to MiSpace

eLearning is an exciting new delivery mode which utilizes technology to increase the effectiveness and accessibility of learning. It provides you, the learner, with information that can be accessed at your own time, place and pace.

Mindanao eLearning Space is a project of Basic Education Assistance for Mindanao (BEAM). The BEAM project began in January 2002 as a five year Department of Education (DepEd) project of the Republic of the Philippines. It is supported by the Government of the Philippines and by the Australian Government through the Australian Agency for International Development or AusAid. Its area of coverage includes Region XI, Region XII and the Autonomous Region of Muslim Mindanao (ARMM) that form Southern Mindanao, Central Mindanao and the Island Group in the southern part of the Philippines.

The Training and Development Master Plan (TDMP) of the BEAM Project mentioned two types of delivery training and these were the conventional delivery mode and through the use of information communications technology (ICT-based learning) also known as eLearning. The development of an ICT- based training environment for the project is based on some principles one of which is that: it be integrated with a partner University for sustainability of the initiative. The BEAM partnered with the University of Southeastern Philippines (USEP), a state university located in Davao City for this endeavor.

In September 2003, the BEAM-DepEd-USEP Consortium was established with the inauguration of the “eLearning Hub” as a place where faculty and web education professionals could go to find content and a community to support them as they teach and learn using the world wide web. Through the eLearning Hub (eHub), the consortium aims to establish eLearning as an effective management-training tool through enhancing the delivery of USEP education courses and DepEd training programs for the senior managers of the Department of Education.

In year 2004, the eLearning Hub was renamed to Mindanao eLearning Space (MISpace) and came up with new logo in response to the demand of its expansion. MISpace now catered the inservice training for teachers and school managers offering eLearning courses and transformed COMPETE materials to eLearning form.

MISpace addressed the need of DepEd in continuing education program for teachers and school heads in most effective and economical way.

It envisions to reach out more learners in different fields of specialization in the future.
